Scooby Doo - Sex, Drugs And Goofy Music

If you were with me back in the old days of SaneAsylum, prior to The Redesigning, you might remember this section - it was one of the very few main parts. If you missed it's presence, I have good news for you. If you've never seen it then you are in for a... well, let me apologize in advance. I was still technically a teenager, and SaneAsylum was still called "Aaron's Web Page of Extreme Pain and General Unhappiness," if that is any indication of the state of mind I was in at the time. I was of the opinion that there were hidden counter-culture messages in good ole Scooby Doo, and I made a expose page that went into it in detail. Read on, enjoy, and tell me what you think.

Norville 'Shaggy' Rogers - Scooby Doo - Daphne Blake - Freddie Jones - Velma Dinkley



Scooby Doo Where are You is a cartoon heavily influenced by drugs, sex and other adult issues. I offer proof:



Drugs

  • Shaggy and Scooby are always the first to see the ghosts, vampires and other improbable apparitions.

  • What do you think are in those Scooby Snacks? I think they were originally called "Doobie Snacks."

  • Shaggy and Scooby are always hungry (yet remain thin.) This is commonly referred to as "The Munchies."

  • Shaggy: The goatee, saying "Like" before every sentence. If he isn't the epitome of Hippidom, tell me what is.

  • Why is Fred so buff? He sits in the van all the time. How does he do it, you ask? Simple: anabolic steroids.

  • The gang is always driving from place to place, and no one seems to have a job. The only way they could possibly support themselves is by selling drugs out of the appropriately named Mystery Machine.

  • Fred, who seems to be in charge, always decides to split the group up. He puts Velma, Shaggy and Scoob in one group and himself and Daphne in the other. Then you don't see Fred and Daphne for awhile.

  • Those jeallous looks Velma sends Fred and Daphne as they sneak away aren't directed towards Fred.

  • So, where did Scrappy come from? He's short and seems to speak English much better than Scooby. You know, Velma is also short and has a large vocabulary, and doen't seem to go for any human males. (I know it's sick, but you must know the truth.) Scooby Dooby Doo!


    Rock And Roll?
    The music on the show was really, well, goofy. I guess the quality of the music had a lot to do with the the era in which it was produced: 1969. Wasn't that right after Woodstock? I think I've made my point.


    Remember kids, you can still catch Scooby Doo daily on Cartoon Network if your parents can afford cable.
