Increased Incidents Of Man Boobs? Think H20

Paula  #633 Sun, Jan 15th 2006 13 [ Read: First / Last ]

I have to say that I am truly surprised with the lack of information available to the layperson about the direction food is going in this country. There has been much discussion on this page about different political trends/events, but not much information or dialog about something that affects all of us equally. Even within our small socioeconomic group of friends, there are tendencies that push us one way or another when it comes to politics. I feel particularly drawn to food and food issues due to the fact that if you want to live at all, you too will have to engage in some sort of interaction with food.

In my opinion, the government in this country is for Big Money and Big Business. The trend to allow gluttony all across the board for large Corporate America is sickening. Seems every time I turn around, there is another law passed that stiffs the little guy, only to allow more and more control in the form of government or big business.

With the lack of mainstream information about what is happening to your dinner plate- without your consent, I felt drawn to publish some of that information on this forum.
So lets speak first about the Organic Standard. The Organic Label indicates that a product meets certain government standards, those standards are coming under pressure as big companies cash in on the growing demand for organic food. “Consumer spending on organic has grown so much that we’ve attracted big players who want to bend the rules so that they can brand their products as organic without incurring the expenses involved in truly living up to the organic standards,” Ronnie Cummins, national director of the Organic Consumers Association. Despite receiving over 350,000 letters and phone calls from the organic community, Republican leaders in Congress October 27 attached a rider to the 2006 Agricultural Appropriations Bill to weaken the nation's organic food standards in response to pressure from large-scale food manufacturers. Another big win for Big Business.

Why even bother with organic food? According to the Environmental Working Group (EWG), a research and advocacy organization in Washington, D.C., eating the 12 most contaminated fruits and vegetables exposes you to about 20 pesticides a day on average. If you eat the 12 least contaminated, you’re exposed to about two pesticides a day. Still doesn’t make you think twice? Let’s talk about what those pesticides are doing to the soil, the ground water supply, and to your health care cost over your lifetime.

I have noticed recently the young girls of the upcoming generation seem to be so much more “blessed” then the girls of my generation. At first I thought it must be the different style of clothing, showing everything God gave them kind of thing. Then I started putting the puzzle together and found that this entire food thing is interlaced. Like I said above, lets talk about soil, water and health care. Recently it has been found that all the HRT and Birth Control that has been dispensed and used in this country is biting us in the ass. Not only is it causing major problems for the women taking the hormones, it is causing an issue for the rest of us consuming water. Until recently people thought the estrogens in birth control pills were rendered inactive by the body because the kidneys tack on an extra sugar molecule before they are excreted in the urine. But according to toxicologists who researched estrogen patches for Proctor & Gamble, scientists have learned bacteria in sewage treatment plants chew off this sugar molecule exposing this hormone to human estrogen receptors once again. Bingo!! More man boobies!!

I saw on the news this week they were talking about alternatives to oil and dependency on petroleum products. The average person doesn’t even know how vast the list of products produced from fossil fuels really is. If every household in the U.S. replaced just one bottle of 25 oz petroleum based dishwashing liquid with a vegetable based product, we could save 81,000 barrels of oil, enough to heat and cool 4,600 U.S. homes a year. Those numbers don’t even include the cost on the environment to ship the products.

Funny saying that is, “the cost to the environment,” the more I look at it, I see it is the cost to Paula’s health. It just keeps perpetuating itself…..so we eat the foods with the pesticides making us chronically ill, then people don’t feel like working, so they don’t have the money to pay to heat their homes, then we use the wrong cleaning products that in turn cost more than helping the poor souls that cannot pay to heat their homes, then they end up in some sort of government program only to find we are drinking the toxic water they are peeing out. And what is the all-powerful American government doing about it?

In my personal opinion they are forcing us to shoot our own foot. With all the laws they are passing, or should I say all the rights they are taking, they are forcing the American public to become some sickly, detached, ultimate consumer.

Well my friends, I cannot take it any more. I cannot take the lies they are dishing out only help some fat white man’s pocket book. The icing on the cake for me comes up this week in Washington State legislation. A bill has been introduced into the Washington State Legislature that is intended to force private owners of dairy animals to comply with Grade A dairy production regulations or face felony criminal charges. It also contains provisions that would seriously erode the rights of Washingtonians to be secure in their private homes and be free from unreasonable search and seizure. Yes you are reading that correctly, they are proposing to make it illegal for me, on my own property, to milk my own damn cow. So now Big Government is in my own backyard telling me I have to become State Certified as a DAIRY to milk one cow on my family farm. And if I don’t comply? Well then it is a felony. To refresh your memory a felony something like aggravated assault, arson, burglary, murder and rape. I feel the consequence on that one is just a bit disproportionate don’t you? Rape = milking a cow or a goat?

So, with just the tip brushed here for you tonight, I offer that you start thinking about the small choices you make every day. If they want to only see the American public as some sort of consumer drone, and our “democratic vote” no longer holds any real value- then vote the way they are asking us to. Stop buying the crap. Stop buying the lies they are telling us about what is safe. Stop buying the brand named items that cause you and our planet to feel ill. Stop shopping at stores that don’t value real farmers, real food and real sacrifice from the animals that give their lives.

You have a choice and that choice then becomes your voice.

Big business pay big lobby funds to both parties so as long as the lobby laws are the way they are, and side deals are allowed, we will always be at the mercy of Company X,Y,Z.

If you have your own cows and dont sell the milk to other people, I dont see why you should have to be certified, but if you do sell or give it away, then there should be some sort of standards. Felony? Thats just nuts.

How about cracking down on meth or sexual abusers.

What stores are not influenced by big biz? Natures? I usually get food at the local Fred Meyer, there isnt really any other place to get food where I live besides Alberstons.

I am more and more thankfull every day that I filter my water and move more and more toward true organic living. Since Laura is pregnant we have been looking into this and it is pretty disturbing.

I agree Paula the food in our society / country is poison we are filling and clogging our bodies. Hormones and chemicals I can't even say. What concerns me more is violence, war, and the illusion of "defense", in this nation and the lack of concern about health care, education, and our food. It's time to make a change.

If I could destroy all the Corporate America I would even if it meant no more internet. It's time for some tuff love in this Country.

Dronelord we would crack down on meth and crack and sexual abusers if our police didn't waste there time getting everyone on traffic violations and all the other crimes that generate revenue for them. The police don't like hunting down sexual offenders there is no money in it. It is so retarded that pigs cant shoot, the worst shots in history. So think to yourself the next time you see the pigs taking someone's Pot and realize they are wasting there time and some serial killer is free.

I tend to live my life on what “feels” right for me. I don't know if my one body can make a difference on the poor environment that is suffering under the pollution and nastiness of large commercial meat farmers but I feel really good about choosing to live a Vegetarian lifestyle. I know I can do more but IMO everybody should just stop eating cows, chickens, and Pigs that are raised on factory farms! There are just too many reasons that make it a great idea, your health, your planet, and your conscience. smile

and I just have to add..... why is it that men are getting boobs from the water of peed out hormones meanwhile I inject them into my body and clearly it does NOTHING in my "boob" department.

that's just sad.

Jim - #7 Tue, Jan 17th 2006 @ 5:21 PM 46 words
Well Shay, the small fact left out of this post is that not all men get boobs. Just the fat ones. Now if you put on 50 pounds or so, some of that fat would go to your chest. It's a hormones plus fat thing.

Oh and although I agree that there are plenty of reasons to avoid red meat and perhaps meat altogether, I am not going to become a vegetarian. My body is not designed for it. I do best and feel healthiest with about an 80/20 mix of veggies to meat. I eat mostly whole grains and complex vegetables with a little meat like chicken or fish. I especially love salmon. I do occasionally have red meat of some kind, but it is far form a staple for me. However, my ancestors did not claw their way to the top of the food chain so I could eat nothing but vegetables.

Shay, actually it is because depo isn't estrogen, it is progesterone hormone:

"Depo-Provera injection contains the active ingredient medroxyprogesterone acetate, which is a synthetic form of the naturally occurring female sex hormone, progesterone."

Jim is kind of correct, estrogen is stored in fat cells, so when you have extra weight, then the man boobs start to become more evident because the estrogen stores are higher. When estrogen levels are high in men, it also starts to effect their sex drive. More estrogen=decreased sex drive.

Hormones perform a very delicate dance in the body. It is scary to think we are all taking them without knowing about it!!

I agree Steve. There are a ton of "crimes" that generate money. I could care less about some stupid plant that doesnt cause nearly the amount of problems that alcohol does. Dont forget prositution. If that was legal and regulated...then the cops wouldnt be wasting their time with all their sting operations while killers roam free.

When the government figures out a way to make money off of pot, prostitution, and other things; then it will become legalized.

As for meth and the other stuff, people kill and do crazy things for that stuff.

As for the food issue, I just want a Star Trek replicator so my food would be extra spacey perfect. razz
