Why Does Saneasylum.com Suck?
|
Why does Saneasylum.com suck?I think it sucks right now mostly because of lack of participation. The lack of interesting topics that appeal and inspire a wide variety of folks has taken a hiatus since Mr. Bush was granted another 4. For starters there is no female input whatsoever these days and that is largely due to the new route, which prohibited people to talk about politics. This also stole from people the ability to really say what they feel for fear of censorship. Why take something like that away? We are passionate people that believe in a variety of different things. If we cannot talk politics, religion, and beliefs then what else is there? Fluff? I honestly don’t have time to dabble in a discussion about unicorn postings, or other such matters. There have been times when I have wanted to post something but didn’t because of the rapid decline in participation these days. How do you recapture this? Let people talk about what they feel, let insults fly, don’t censor. People become so hypersensitive in this world of spoon-fed media that they forget how to think for themselves and that their own shit smells bad. Would you honestly rather everybody agree with everything you say or allow people to be called out? I say embrace everything, and do not tell people how to think or feel but merely open the forum for people to vent, purge, whatever they need to do to get something out there. This can only stimulate somebody to respond and if feelings get hurt I say get over it. Life is too short to throw emotions into every instance. Save Saneasylum from the boredom that has encompassed it for so long now. Say what you feel and listen to others. Just go nuts and type whatever comes to mind. Stop thinking so hard about how others will react to something and just let go. Maybe then you will have some realness that everybody can become apart of again. |

| Thank you for the substantial and heartfelt article Steve, I am impressed! There was never a rule against politics, I just said that I didn't want to PERSONALLY post anything politics related anymore. It seemed that political articles never got anyone onto the same page, instead, they just drove us apart. As for the censorship that occured sometimes, yeah, that sucked. It's mostly because I use SaneAsylum for everything, and I didn't want my family coming here and have to deal with something awful. I am thinking that I need another website, just for my family and freinds and that sort of stuff. Let SaneAsylum become what it was before, and put no restrictions on what can and can't be on it, to the extent that no laws are being broken. Perhaps a moderation system so people can democratically decide what is generally worth seeing, etc. I dunno. I feel like we need a mission statement. When we were at our height, what were we? What purpose was SaneAsylum serving? I've asked this before, but I really am looking for a good answer. Here are some ideas: Though, I rather like robots. So, mission statements, people. Back when it was good, what was it, exactly? |

| Good post Steve. I too opted to stop posting about politics out of frustration and because it was definitely driving a wedge into our friendships. But then, was it the politics themselves doing that? Perhaps we should all personally try real hard to think before we submit, especially if a political discussion transforms into just a bunch of us insulting each other. That will be my resolution. And if I feel I have been insulted, I will call you on it. I expect you to do the same for me. 99% of what we write probably gets misunderstood as flame mail anyway. I also enjoy reading what we all personally write here, but if it requires linking to a long-winded diatribe written by somebody else on this or that slanted blog, I don't have the time. I suggest we don't make each other prove ourselves through a rapid-fire series of links to supporting information. If we were having a conversation in person, we would say something and not be expected to run willy-nilly around Vancouver looking for references to support our statements. "Where did you hear that?" "I read it on Drudge yesterday." "Good enough." So anyway, count me in! |

| It was good when it was emotional, when it stirred us up! I really miss being annoyed with Greg telling me to fence in all the animals and let the strongest survive...or something along those lines. I think we just had so much energy into it that after all the passion was spent things sort of fizzled away. It's hard to build up momentum again after slowing to such a speed as we have done. Plus I am sure everybody just got busy doing other things so I don't know, if I thought the girls would come back and frequent here I would totally be willing to start posting things again, things that matter to me. I know you have a passionate wife, what are her views on this site? I just really like that this can be a voice to get your point across. Right or wrong I love tossing ideas about. But for the record, I am always right. J I want blood sweat and tears on this site! What I don’t want is boring. When things become dull or boring I just leave. |

| Gorge Bush is so retarded, I don't think we can even measure how stupid this man is. |

| george isn't *quite* as stupid as you'd like to believe. During his first run for senate (i believe) in texas, he lost - largely because people felt he was too 'brainy' - rambling on about complex economic issues. I think he plays up the 'good ol boy who failed math class' to seem like someone you could really have a beer with. I read someplace that his stunted speech skills show up while he's talking out his ass. Aparently, he has an eerie eloquence when talking about the death penalty, but when talking about his understanding for the common man, he's suddenly a seven year old with downs. granted - all that coke and boozin should be catchin up to him about now... |
