Can't Get It Outta My Head

Aaron  #122 Tue, Aug 12th 2003 30 [ Read: First / Last ]

According to this article, 98% of people in a recent research effort were found to have had, at one time or another, a song stuck in their head. These types of songs, apparently called Earworms, include the Kit-Kat jingle ("Gimme a break"), "Who Let the Dogs Out," Queen's "We Will Rock You," the theme to "Mission: Impossible," "YMCA," "Whoomp, There It Is," "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" and "It's a Small World After All." I am sorry if one of these is now playing in your head as you read this.

I must admit that this issue is a serious one for me. I get songs stuck in my head constantly, and the only way to get them out is to listen to other music, which then lodges that other music in my head. It’s a vicious cycle. Sometimes it’s a song I like, sometimes not. The worst for me was Come On Eileen, (the sucky Save Ferris version). That was stuck for over a week, and I actually considered getting a trepanning or a lobotomy. You can ask me, any time, "What's playing Aaron" and I will tell you what song I have stuck in my head at the time, and there always is one. It's like the worlds biggest jukebox, full of quarters, and I can't turn it off - only drown it out with louder music. *sigh*

Does this happen to you? What songs have you gotten stuck in your head, and which was the worst?

Wake me up before you go-go
Don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo
Wake me up before you go-go
I don't want to miss it when you hit that high
Wake me up before you go-go
'Cause I'm not plannin' on going solo
Wake me up before you go-go
Take me dancing tonight
I wanna hit that high (yeah, yeah)

HELP, IT WON'T STOP PLAYING IN MY HEAD!!!!!!!

life should just be a musical so we just get it out of our system, singing all the time would remove all the annoying songs from our heads. Jaffee!

Crack that whip
Give the past the slip

No, if life were a musical, I would prefer the alternative. No jaffee.

It just ain't the same, always unchanged New days are strange, is the world insane If love and peace is so strong Why are there pieces of love that don't belong Nations droppin' bombs Chemical gasses fillin' lungs of little ones With the ongoin' sufferin' as the youth die young So ask yourself is the lovin' really gone So I could ask myself really what is goin' wrong In this world that we livin' in people keep on givin' in Makin' wrong decisions, only visions of them dividends Not respectin' each other, deny thy brother A war is goin' on but the reason's undercover The truth is kept secret, it's swept under the rug If you never know truth then you never know love Where's the love, y'all, come on (I don't know) Where's the truth, y'all, come on (I don't know) Where's the love, y'all

Orgasmo Theme Song by DVDA (not a porn, fyi):

Hey

What makes a man?
Is it the power in his hands?
Is it his quest for glory?
Give it all you've got,
to fight to the top
So we can know your story

Now you're a man

A man, man man
Now you're a man

A manny manny man
